The Kalos is the first all-new car released under the GM Daewoo alliance and it replaces the Lanos, which was Daewoo’s previous small car entrant. The Kalos is available as a four-door sedan or a five-door hatch and it’s powered by a single camshaft 1.5 litre engine. There’s no three-door, as was offered in the Lanos model range, nor a 1.6 litre engine option as was featured in the Lanos Sport. The Kalos sedan and hatch are quite different in appearance and accordingly, their appeal will be to different buyers. Whereas the hatch presents a bold, Italian- inspired design that should attract the younger generation, the sedan is much plainer and blander, and represents the practical choice for family buyers, or perhaps older empty nesters.
